Way to go Cleveland!!!
The land of Cleve's has screwed the entire AFC North in one fell swoop. The Cleveland Browns, acting in their usual all-encompassing wisdom, signed former Ravens RB Jamal Lewis. This move is questionable for a few reasons (and for both parties). 1) I never thought the Browns would ever want to pick up anyone who played for the beloved Art Modell. 2) Lewis is like 37 years old, slow, fat, and stupid. And 3) I think any trade or signing within your own division is stupid. I mean you hate the guy for years, and all of a sudden, he's your best player.
However, there is one obvious reason the Browns signed him: because he averaged like 250 yards rushing every single time he played them. Hey idiots - the reason he could do that is because your front 7 suck ass, not because Jamal Lewis is the next Walter Payton.
Anyway, I'm getting off track. The real reason Cleveland is retarded (and by no means the only reason) is this:
After learning that Jamal Lewis, whom the Ravens actually wanted to re-sign, had signed elsewhere, they go out and trade for former Buffalo RB Willis McGahee. We all know this guy... the one who got his knee obliterated as the Buckeyes went on to win the National Championship (which is the greatest National Championship game that I have ever witnessed). Anyway, McGahee turned out to be a pretty good RB in Buffalo, which means he'll probably be ridiculous when playing for a pro team like the Ravens. This is a huge upgrade for the Ravens. So, thanks a lot Cleveland, for handing the Ravens the AFC North crown next year. They already won it last year with fat ass in the backfield; just imagine what they'll be like now.
At this point, the Browns should consider moving to the Canadian Football League. Trust me, it'll be better for all of us.

I wasn't suggesting that Cleveland should have picked up McGahee, although I think that two 3rd round picks might be worth the price. I do however agree with your assessment. Lewis can be the big bruiser and then Peterson can come in once the defense is tired, and sprint past them. Also, he will get much needed experience, while not having to shoulder the entire running load. He would [probably get his ass kicked for two years, then get injured and end his career.
My real issue is that because Cleveland signed Lewis, Baltimore went after McGahee, which upgraded their team significantly. Baltimore would have most likely signed Lewis and stuck with him.
I fully understand the need to have 2 good RB's that you can sub in and out, in today's NFL. But, Cleveland could have picked up Chris Brown, Ahman Green, TJ Duckett, Ron Dayne, or Travis Henry to fill that role while Peterson matured. It's just that they signed Jamal Lewis. I fucking hate, hate, HATE the Ravens and all their murderous, criminal, Miami-Hurricane-type players, and their douche-bag of a coach.
And Brad, I like how you pick on "my" franchise out here in wine country. I guess you're speaking of "my" 49ers, right? Not the Steelers, whom I pledge allegiance to each morning. Well, I must say that they've made some nice additions to the team: CB Nate Clements, LB Tully Banta-Cain, WR Ashley Lelie, SS Michael Lewis. Not to mention the fact that had they not lost to Arizona twice (ouch) they would have been in the playoffs and won their division. And I think that "horribly bad" franchise had 3 more wins than the Browns did.
Cleveland Sucks nough said.
The Bengals are going to be back with a vengeance. The Bengals lost six games at a total of 21 points. Change some plays at the end of games and they could have just as easily been 14 and 2. They do have trouble competing at the top of the AFC losing to Indy and the Patriots badly.
The Ravens have a fossil at Q.B. who can't stay healthy for a season. No one is sitting on the bench to back him up. One mediocre year is all he's got left.
The steeler's just lost a hall of fame coach. They have a quarterback who trashed his body in a motorcycle wreck who sucked it up to play the majority of the season.
You tell me who's going to win the division.
