Yea this country is getting pretty ridiculous... too bad Canada is sooo damn cold. Pretty soon regular ol' folk like you and I will be peasants in a nation ruled by the big-wigs of major corporations.
Also, I just read an article about the file-sharing court ruling, and one songwriter, whom I have never heard of, who is obviously in support of the file-sharing software said, "This is going to cut off a lot of avenues, especially for startup bands." The only ones who benefit from this are major record labels and major artists. Small, independent labels and musicians utilized the free file sharing, to more effectively distribute their music. Personally, I'd be more than willing to listen to anyone's music if it is free. But am I really going to buy an album from some band I've never heard of, on a whim? Not likely. The songwriter went on to say, "I'm not a lawyer, but I don't understand how they can hold a software company responsible for the misuses of their software and not hold gunmakers responsible for the misuses of their products." True indeed. Wilco's Jeff Tweedy also chimed in with this, "Any decision that outlaws or discourages developing technology that expands Wilco's reach is shortsighted. It is sad that conservatives and liberals in the Supreme Court can hold hands and agree unanimously on a decision so squarely on the side of big business and so damaging to the side of culture."
True, America goes to great lengths to make sure that all innovation and business is moved overseas. This won't stop file sharing it will only put an end to American companies producing this type of software.
