Help Save Internet Radio
I got a message from Pandora (the Music Genome Project), saying that the Copyright Royalty Board in DC is attempting to almost triple the licensing fees that internet radio sites would have to pay to broadcast music. Pandora, and many sites like it, cannot afford to pay these higher fees, which would put them out of business, and you out of a free expose-me-to-more-music site.
It should be noted that Pandora is "fully supportive of paying royalties to the artists whose music we play, and have done so since our inception. As a former touring musician myself, I'm no stranger to the challenges facing working musicians. The issue we have with the recent ruling is that it puts the cost of streaming far out of the range of ANY webcaster's business potential."
If you would like to sign a petition to urge our Government to stop these fee hikes, please fill it out here.
