OK Computer

Ben requested the files for OK Computer. If anyone else wants to download them they are now posted.

The Binary Theory

In Rainbows was released 10 years after OK Computer

In Rainbows was released on 10/10

In Rainbows was announced 10 days in advance

In Rainbows has 10 letters

In Rainbows has 10 tracks

In Rainbows is available from a rumored ten servers

In Rainbows is available only as a digital file (so far)

O = O.K. Computer
I = In Rainbows

In Rainbows was proceeded with 10 cryptic messages using the letter X (roman numeral for 10)

Puddlegum thinks the key to unlocking the "hidden message" is to create a playlist intertwining In Rainbows and O.K. Computer (see their site for the suggested playlist). The result (I just listened to it like that) is interesting. It certainly sounds great together, but is that just because they are both wonderful albums or is it something more? What do you think?

Another interesting point to note is that at the golden ratio of In Rainbows (61.8% through) Thom begins to croon "In Rain, In Rain, In Rain, In Rain, In Rainbows" This appears to also be true when the two albums are mixed together.

Quality Posts

I just wanted to give a quick props to the high level of music postings lately. Aesop, Animal Collective, Blue Scholars and Drunken Immortals were all enjoyable.

Friday Music, Volume X

Super Furry Animals // Hey Venus!

Many of you know that I'm a super Super Furry Animals fan. Their latest album, Hey Venus!, isn't quite as strong as their last (Love Kraft), where it seemed every song was a hit. However, it is still a really fun album and worth listening to while there are still a few nice days left until winter. Make sure you listen to The Gateway Song, it's quite possibly the best 42 second song ever (try to listen to it only once)!

Stand out tracks:
Baby Ate My Eightball
The Gateway Song
Neo Consumer

My first Sports post... ever (and probably last)

I'd like to take a quick moment to talk about sports. Well, not so much sports but the sociological effects of sports teams and sports super-stars on a specific geographical area. Namely: What the fuck Was Lebron James thinking?!?!

It's been a rough week for King James; he's brought it on himself. Less than a week from his dismal appearance hosting Saturday Night Live, the most famous and respected Clevelander of all, wore a New York fucking Yankees hat to the Indians playoff opener and flaunted it on national television. As an ambassador to the city of Cleveland he has failed. He has taken a shining moment from the Indians. No one here is talking about how great Kenny Lofton played, or about what a beating the Tribe gave the Yanks. He has turned a wonderful moment sour.

At least he's not on trial for peeing on a 15 year old, murdering an ex-lover, running down someone with his car, or raping a white girl. But for most Clevelander's, that are desperate for hope and a team to get behind, he has committed treason, and that might even be worse.

Maybe next time the Cavs are in the playoffs we'll see Travis Hafner sporting a pistons cap!

Radiohead // In Rainbows

Radiohead has announced that their new album will become available on October, 10. It is to be available in two formats. One is a "disc box" which contains 2 enhanced CDs, 2 vinyl records, and a digital download for 40 pounds. The other option is the digital download portion only. The price to download is up to you. It remains to be seen what that actually means but it looks like it will be free or very very inexpensive to download and then you will be asked to donate. They have also chosen to record and distribute the album without the use of a record company. Distribution details aside, I'm very exited to hear this album and hope that the delivery doesn't overpower the music.
