a quick survey

Please respond to this post with answers:

Do you like using the new system to share on-line versus sharing through the mail?

Should we maintain an assigned month or just post as we feel like it?

Are you having any problems with the blog or FTP site?

Do you have any questions about posting to the blog or the FTP site?

Any suggestions?

Help Save Internet Radio

I got a message from Pandora (the Music Genome Project), saying that the Copyright Royalty Board in DC is attempting to almost triple the licensing fees that internet radio sites would have to pay to broadcast music. Pandora, and many sites like it, cannot afford to pay these higher fees, which would put them out of business, and you out of a free expose-me-to-more-music site.

It should be noted that Pandora is "fully supportive of paying royalties to the artists whose music we play, and have done so since our inception. As a former touring musician myself, I'm no stranger to the challenges facing working musicians. The issue we have with the recent ruling is that it puts the cost of streaming far out of the range of ANY webcaster's business potential."

If you would like to sign a petition to urge our Government to stop these fee hikes, please fill it out here.

Return of the "G"...

It's been a while since I've been on as well. I didn't get a new computer at work, I'm just lazy. But I'd like to contribute some music and thoughts again if permitted. I picked up some Clay Aiken that I know D would like.

TVOTR & UTIOG

Alright, I finally got TV On The Radio posted here. This zip includes their first album Desperate Youth, Bloodthirsty Babes, and also some bonus other tracks. I've since figured out that one of the tracks is unplayable, because it is an iTunes MS file. But I'm not gonna re-post the zip. Sorry about that.

Also, I picked up a new album, so I thought I'd post it. The band is called Under the Influence of Giants. It's pretty much catchy pop/rock stuff, but sorta funky, and I'm feelin it. I'm hearing sounds that resemble stuff from the Beatles to the Bee Gees, hence the band's name. Check it out and let me know what you think.

These two bands probably couldn't be much further apart, but I like a little variation in my music from day to day. Hoping you do too. Enjoy.

Apple and EMI

Thank God 2 major players in digital music have finally realized that not only is DRM-free music is better for consumers it will ultimately lead to more money for them as well.
