Ratatat is here

I uploaded Ratatat's newest album Classics. It's some good instrumental music that goes everywhere from hip-hop to rock to mellow. Check it out. I have their self-titled album as well, featuring the song Seventeen Years that kicks ass, among others. I can post if requested.

Happy Hoodie Hoo Day!!!!

Just wanted to wish everyone a very Happy Hoodie Hoo Day!!! Although the usual celebration has been non-existent in recent years, I'm still celebrating in spirit (and a few Guiness's'siz') and remeniscing about "the good ol' days" (tear). Hope you all join in as well.

Request

I'd like to hear the new Decemberists record. Anyone have it? If so, can you post?
I haven't had the time, but plan on posting some albums I recently picked up. Hoping to do it next week.

Giant Panda

Props, D, on a great posting. I love this album. For all those who don't know, Dylan posted a Giant Panda album last week. It's a very fun hip hop album, I love the Japanese rhyming.

Universal to make movie about Milli Vanilli

Just when you thought you'd heard (not sure 'heard' is the right word) the last of Rob & Fab (aka Milli Vanilli), Universal Pictures announces plans to make a movie about them.

Unfortunately (not sure 'UN-fortunately' is the right word) one is dead (coke overdose), and the other is sadly trying to "resurrect" his "music" career. The screenplay is being written by Jeff Nathanson, who wrote the screenplay for Catch Me If You Can, and I'm seriously going to see this movie when it comes out... on DVD... don't think Milli Vanilli deserves $9 per person to see how they bullshitted their way to fame (and a Grammy, I might add).

Anyway, check out this article on the movie. It says that both Rob (still alive) and Fab's estate are cooperating with filmmakers. Really??? That's surprising, considering their talent, and all the other arenas they could feasibly make mega-bucks... fuckin losers. Alas, I'm just bitter because I bought their album, and actually saw them in concert! (Go ahead and heckle me if you want) Young MC opened up for them, but you'd all know I was lying if I told you that Young MC was the only reason I went....

Let's start trading music again.

If you are interested in being a part of music trading again then send me an e-mail (me [at] jameskurtz.com). I will then set up a username and password for my FTP site and e-mail it back to you. To trade music you will need to use an FTP client and log into my site (I'll write instructions in my reply e-mail which will include a password). It may be a bit confusing at first if you are not familiar with FTP, however, you'll pick it up quickly. We will use this site to post links to the files and folders we post.

...In other retarded news...

The following is an article from "the world-wide leader is sports". People can be soooooo stupid.

Bears fan follows through on vow, changing name

DECATUR, Ill. -- He doesn't want to do it, but diehard Chicago Bears fan Scott Wiese is changing his name.

The 26-year-old Forsyth man told friends that if his beloved team didn't win the Super Bowl, he'd become Peyton Manning after the Colts' star quarterback.

He even signed a petition in front of 200 people last week at Decatur's Katz Piano Bar that he'd do it.

After the Colts defeated the Bears 29-17 on Sunday, Wiese started the process.

He trudged to the Macon County Courts Facility yesterday and filed the paperwork. The change still has to be approved by a judge.

Wiese says he really cares about the team and that his sacrifice represents the true passion of Bears fans.

Steve Jobs and Apple to embrace DRM free music??

Steve Jobs posted an open letter to apple.com giving an overview or digital music and DRM. He then projects 3 possible outcomes for the use of DRM in the future. Stay the course, come up with an industry DRM standard, or abolish DRM entirely. In the end he prefers the latter and I couldn't agree more. Hopefully this is the end of a pointless technology.

overreactions from a scared country

2 people were arrested in Boston yesterday after placing several light boxes around the city. The boxes have a picture of Ignignot from Aqua Teen Hunger Force sticking up his middle finger. It's part of a nationwide publicity campaign to promote Aqua Teen's upcoming movie. The boxes are totally harmless. Yet the city is hell bent on prosicuting either the people who planted the devices or the company that hired them to do so. "Hoaxes are a tremendous burden on local law enforcement and counter-terrorism resources and there's absolutely no place for them in a post-9/11 world." Give me a fucking break. This country has completly lost it's sense of humor. Over 5 years after 9/11 and we're still a bunch of scared little girls.
